The final event of the 2016 Bluenose Autosport Club’sPerformance Rally Championship is this Sunday with the Trout Lake RallySprint in Middleton, Nova Scotia. This is a great event with a wonderful piece of road full of great surface, elevation changes and tricky corners. Its always a great way to end off the season. As always we need lots of Volunteers to help make these events great so if you want to come out and get the best seat in the house contact the organizers!
With nearly no downtime following the end of the BAC Season two teams are probably not even going to unpack their tow vehicles before heading off to the Rallye de Charlevoix in Clermont, Quebec, taking place on October 21-22nd. Mal Swann and Martin Cadieux will once again challenge these storied stages while James Whitman and Daphne Sleigh have a score to settle with the event after retiring early in 2015 with a catastrophic mechanical failure in their Volkswagen Golf. Bonne Chance!
Locally, things are getting geared up for the start of the 2016-2017 Bluenose Autosport Club’s RallyCross challenge! A full calendar of events has been scheduled from November through March. Stay tuned for locations and get your winter beaters, rally cars and everything in between ready for sideways!

A quiet weekend on the home-front doesn’t mean that some locals aren’t busy! This weekend we have two dedicated teams headed in two different directions to scratch the rally bug!
Heading West, Mal Swann and the Fritter are at it again, headed back yet again to Quebec to attack the Rallye Defi alongside Co-driver Tim Dine! The event runs September 9th and 10th and live results will be available on RallyScoring.com so stay tuned!
Headed East is Atlantic Region Navigational Rally Director Cindy McCarron, who is taking on the annual Targa Newfoundland Rally for the first time alongside driver Adam Mercer in a classic 1987 Toyota Supra! Check out the Mad Rock Racing Facebook Page for more info!
Also competing at Targa Newfoundland are Rally East Facebook regular, San Francisco-based Peter Guagenti, who is returning to tackle Targa after a several year absence alongside Co-Driver Matt Rhoads in his stunning 2002 BMW M3.
Targa Newfoundland is an epic 5-day Tarmac Rally which runs from September 10-17th all across the South East of Newfoundland, hosting competitors from all around the world. Check out Targa Newfoundland for more information!

After the successful 2016 Ledwidge Lookoff Rally the Bluenose Autosport Club‘s Rally series continued with Round 2 on Saturday, August 27th with the Laffin Lake RallySprint. Five teams tackled 6 stages each in Kennetcook, Nova Scotia with the team of Jonathan Conrad and Wayne Pitts ending up on top of the podium and Cal Vandaalen and Meg Grandmaison following close behind. Ian Pearce and Gordon Sleigh rounded out the top 3. Also competing were Jim Theriault with rookie co-driver (now rally addict!) Sonia Meadows and Mal Swann with Tim Dine in ‘The Fritter’ RX7 which suffered a minor off on Stage 5. Repairs are already under-way!
The next and final Performance Rally event for the 2016 BAC Series is the Middleton, NS based Trout Lake RallySprint in October! Stay tuned!
Good luck to local competitors Mal Swann and Tim Dine at next weekend’s Rallye Defi, the 4th round of the Canadian Rally Championship! This year’s event looks to be killer with a new, more compact format and over 50 competitors registered to take on both Regional and National stages!
The 2016 running of the Bluenose Autosport ClubLedwidge Lookoff Rally has come and cone. Nine teams converged in Nova Scotia to take on the challenging roads of the Conrad Brother’s Quarry in Dartmouth before moving on to the forests of the Noel shore to attack 4 roads run multiple times throughout the evening and, for the first time ever, into the night for a total of 13 stages and over 100 competitive kilometres.
When the dust had settled (and there was a lot of dust!) Quebec rally mainstay Jean-Sébastien Besner and Hubert Gaudreau came out on top for the overall win with their fire-breathing Mitsubishi EVO IX, followed by Quebec team Mikael Arsenault and Manuel Arsenault and locals Jonathan Conrad and Wayne Pitts filling out the podium. Two wheel drive was claimed by local Mal Swann and his Quebec Co-driver Martin Cadieux with James Whitman and Daphne Sleigh taking second.
The Bluenose Autosport Club Ledwidge Lookoff Rally will return in 2017, moving back to its traditional late August dates. Stay tuned to www.lookoffrally.com for information on how you can spectate, help out or compete in the region’s premiere rally event!

Nine teams from Nova Scotia, Quebec and New Hampshire are running in a variety of potent rally cars from Mitsubishi, Subaru, Volkswagen, Audi and Mazda! The biggest field so far for the event!
The Parc Expose Meet and Greet begins at 3:15 with the cars hitting the stages at 4:15. For all the details see the Spectator link on the Ledwidge Lookoff site! Spectating is free and open to rally fans of all ages!
Hey Rally Fans, the 2016 edition of the Ledwidge Lookoff Rally is happening next Saturday, July 23rd and its never been easier to get up close to the action! 4pm at the Conrad Brother’s Quarry in Dartmouth (31 Cono Drive, behind Dartmouth Crossing). 9 teams are currently entered from Nova Scotia, Quebec and New Hampshire! The Quarry is like Rally Nirvana with super fast stages, tons of sideways and great sight-lines for spectators! Its free to spectate and rally fans of all ages are welcome! See the cars up close and meet the teams at 3:15pm and see them race at 4:15pm!

Supplemental regulations for the 2016 Ledwidge Lookoff Rally have been posted! This year’s event features all new roads and, for the first time, night stages! For more details about the event, including a generous tow-fund for visiting entries, see the Ledwidge Lookoff website! Volunteers are always needed to make Rally happen so even if you don’t have a car come on out to help out for the best seat in the house!
This weekend marked the Rallye Baie des Chaleurs, the second round of the Canadian National Rally Championship which took place in New Richmond, Quebec. On hand were two teams from Nova Scotia to try out their skill and their vehicles on some of the most challenging and exciting roads the province of Quebec has to offer!
Once again Mal Swann and Martin Cadieux strapped into their rotary-powered 79 RX7 for the ride, but their day was unfortunately cut short by unrepairable steering issues after two of the ten stages.
Jonathan Conrad and Tim Dine made their first appearance at the Baie in Jonathan’s 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX and finished the regional portion of the rally, securing a 12th position overall in the East Canada Rally Championship out of 26 cars! Great job, guys!
2016 marks the 39th running of the historic Rallye Baie des Chaleurs which featured competitors from coast to coast and even Central America! For the first time RallyeBDC is featured as part of the international FIA NACAM Rally Championship as the 3rd event in their season. The NACAM Championship consists of events in Central, South and North America with this being their first foray to Canadian stages.
